Dr. Shirin Mesgara, DMD

Dr. Mesgara is a second-generation dentist who attended Centro Escolar University, the same school as her mother, in her birthplace, the Philippines. There she spent her first 6 years of life until her move to Iran. At 16 her family then made the move to Canada where they would settle and call home. Dr Mesgara is fluent in English, Filipino, and Farsi.

Her upbringing bestowed upon her a profound understanding of diverse perspectives shaped by varying cultures, access to healthcare and socioeconomic backgrounds. She strives to create an inclusive environment for all people with differing experiences and to “meet people where they are at”. In doing so she hopes to foster a long-lasting, supportive, and growth based relationship.

Dr. Mesgara obtained her Canadian License with the College of Dental Surgeons of BC in 2019. She is dedicated to continuously expanding her knowledge and skill set, to ensure that her patients receive the highest standard of care.

Beyond the realm of dentistry and insisting her patients increase their flossing, she is most likely to be found exploring the outdoors and spending time with her husband and friends.

Tips for a Healthy Smile from the Alaska Avenue Dental Team

Testimonials, Alaska Avenue Dental, Fort St. John, BC

  • Sugar plays a big role in the development of cavities. Avoid foods with 'hidden' sugars, like crackers, processed food, and milk. Brushing twice daily, swishing with water or chewing sugarless gum after meals can reduce the harmful of effect sugar on your teeth.
